What Makes Us Unique

BRHO is proudly women-led, ensuring that the voices, perspectives, and leadership of women are central to humanitarian and development solutions. Our work is community-driven, rights-based, and inclusive, with a deliberate focus on those most often left behind.

Across Nigeria and Sudan, BRHO is not only a responder to crises but also a builder of resilience nurturing partnerships, championing dignity, and advancing durable solutions that create hope for a better future.

What we do

At BRHO, our work is driven by a commitment to protect people, restore dignity, and build long-term resilience in crisis-affected communities. Guided by humanitarian principles and local leadership, we provide direct assistance to save lives while also empowering communities to withstand future shocks.

Our interventions are structured around five key pillars, which together form a holistic approach to humanitarian response and sustainable development:

1. Site Management and Settlement

We work in displacement camps and host communities to ensure that internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, and returnees live in conditions that respect their dignity, safety, and rights.

2. Violence Prevention

BRHO is deeply committed to ensuring that people are protected from violence, exploitation, and abuse.

3. Environmental Rehabilitation

Recognizing the devastating impact of climate change and environmental degradation on already vulnerable populations, BRHO integrates climate action into humanitarian response.

4. Health and Well-Being

Good health is essential for recovery and resilience. BRHO provides life-saving health and psychosocial support to vulnerable populations.

5. Education

Education is a lifeline in crises. BRHO ensures that children and youth have access to safe, inclusive, and quality learning opportunities even in displacement.

Where we work

BRHO operates in some of the most vulnerable and conflict-affected regions of West and Central Africa, with a growing cross-border presence. Our work spans Nigeria, Sudan, and Chad, focusing on communities uprooted by violence, displacement, and humanitarian crises.

Nigeria:

Borno State: Maiduguri, Jere, Bama, Banki, Kala-Balge, Mobbar, Ngala, Monguno

Other States: Adamawa, Yobe, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara

Sudan:

Established field presence in West Darfur, Central Darfur, Blue Nile, and North Darfur States, delivering humanitarian and resilience programs in partnership with local communities and authorities.

Chad:

Coordination Office in N’Djamena supporting cross-border operations, regional engagement, and partnership building.

Across these locations, our work prioritizes internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, returnees, and vulnerable host communities, ensuring that those most affected by conflict and crises have access to life-saving assistance, protection, and pathways to resilience.

Our work

Emergency Response

We provide rapid, life-saving assistance through shelter, non-food items (NFIs), and protection services during crises, helping communities recover and rebuild.

Climate Change

We promote climate resilience by introducing sustainable practices, disaster risk reduction strategies, and environmental restoration to mitigate the effects of climate-related disasters.

Early Recovery

We assist communities transitioning from crisis to stability by rebuilding infrastructure, restoring services, and offering livelihood opportunities to promote long-term self-reliance.

At BRHO, we provide life-saving and life-sustaining support to vulnerable communities through emergency relief, protection services, education, livelihoods, and advocacy. We work closely with local actors and affected populations to ensure our interventions are timely, inclusive, and responsive to real needs empowering communities to recover, rebuild, and thrive.
